Austin is a lovely fawn Mastiff boy who badly needs a forever home with a family of his own to love again.

Someone docked his tail at some point. Possibly he had a case of 'happy tail' and needed amputation? We can only guess.

What we do know is that Austin is young- is very sweet and loving and has a very endearing face.

He is being evaluated with other animals- more will be posted here as soon as more is known to share.

Below is information about Austin taken from a note from his foster mom:

"We were at my daughters house for a visit over Thanksgiving and can report that Austin loves all  people,  large and small.   He has to be right in the middle of anything that is going on.  He is great with kids and grownups.  No problems at all.   One of my daughter's dogs is a very old white shepherd,  she is about 13 now.  She is too old to do much of anything.  Spends her time on the couch just watching everyone.  Austin went over to her and she curled up one lip,  no noise of any kind,  and he quietly walked away and didn't look at her for the rest of our visit.  He was very respectful of her.

The other dog is a pit mix also from a shelter and she seemed to be jealous of Austin, didn't like him near my daughter.  Because I was stuck on the couch with the shepherd because of a bad back my daughter did everything with Austin,  let him out back,  fed him,  gave him a bath and because of doing everything for him he followed her everywhere.   I really think he would be fine with a dog that might like him.  We had a major shedding problem but doctor said it is not uncommon for dogs that are traumatized or fed badly or fed not at all to lose their fur.  He was going bald.  But a beautiful thick short coat is coming out finally.  He is looking so good.  And he is still on antibiotics and ear ointment for ear infections in both ears.  He is a great eater.  He really is a friendly loving dog.  And sometimes too smart.  If he throws a toy at me when we are outside and it doesn't get close enough if I tell him he can do better and I  point at my feet he will come and pick it up and throw it closer.  As you can see I am having a hard time trying not to really bond with him.  I just would be very happy if he went to a good home with kids.  He would be so happy."

If you have the time and love in your heart to foster me- or to make me a family member for ever AFTER please fill out an adoption application at adoption application mentioning me by name and state!
