I am a beautiful young adult female Mastiff girl who my foster family is calling BESSIE. I'm very sweet and laid back- and love people. Just want to be with you. One day I just wandered into a family's yard and they called SSMR Mastiff Rescue once they failed to find my owners.

The vet says I am no more than  three -four years of age.

JULY 4,2010 UPDATE EXCERPTS FROM  BESSIE'S FOSTER MOM,

Bessie, Belle, baby girl, or big mama as she is called by the various members of her foster family is a beautiful fawn colored girl with a dark mask speckled by some silver "highlights".  She is currently living with her foster mom as well as 6 rowdy children , two small female dogs, and a giant iguana.

It has been determined that Bessie does not like other dogs- so she needs a new home where she can be the only dog in the house. However she does fine with cats.

She is unbelievably sweet, laid back and tolerant of all humans and animals regardless of size or gender.  Her house training has gone well and often puts herself in her crate if the household gets too active.

She requires being "pottied" at 4-6 hr intervals but otherwise does beautifully.  She walks nicely on a leash and will respond well to "sit" and "down".  "Come" is still being worked on although she doesn't run away,,,she is prone to "wander" in the hopes you will join her.

When she came to her foster family she was terribly emaciated but otherwise in good health. She is now up to 115 lbs which seems to suit her well.  She is parasite free, heartworm negative, current on all shots , micro-chipped, and scheduled for a spay.

Her joints appear to be in good shape as do her teeth and she has great skin and coat.  She is docile, tolerant and is every bit the young lady.

Bessie requires minimal exercise and activity but is always up for playtime when invited.  She would probably do beautifully with a family with children but would likely be equally content in a home with just one or two people.  She is by far one of the most adaptable and adaptable pets we have ever fostered and we are so excited to help her find her forever home."
