Boo entered Southern States Mastiff Rescue on July 25, 2006. He was fostered and loved by Steve Shaw. He was only in Rescue for seven weeks. Below then, is Boo’s epitaph, written by Steve. |

Boo was a HANDSOME two year old apricot male who weighed 170#. The lady who rescued him and brought Boo to the Humane Society said; “He was tied to a tree in her neighbor’s yard without shelter of any kind.” When Boo was released to Southern States Mastiff Rescue, a wonderful, caring group of Animal Lovers stepped in and agreed to foster him. Boo was a very sick puppy. He had an upper respiratory infection, a temperature of 103 and was covered with ticks. Within a couple of days, Boo had four seizures, but because his blood work was normal it was thought they were due to high temperature. Over a five week period Boo was nursed back to apparent health by these wonderful people and was loved by everyone who met him. They made sure he had all his shots, had his surgery and was “tick-free”. They hated to see him leave. “Boo was Mr. Personality. He even napped with the resident cats.” Once in my home, Boo fit in. When he and my big male started to play, they rearranged the furniture in a hurry. At Treat Time he assumed his position in line with my other two, patiently awaiting his turn without dissention. A stranger would have thought Boo had lived with us his whole life – actually, had things been different, he might have. Boo could make me smile with his eyes and laugh with his grin. This seemed to be true of everyone who met him. As big as Boo was, his personality was even bigger. Everybody loved Boo. On September 11, 2006, Boo had one more seizure, but it lasted too long and could not be stopped. What a sad moment for such a special boy. The few weeks Boo was in Rescue were quality time for him. There are a few very special dogs in one’s life. Boo was one of the ‘special ones’ and he will not be forgotten. Boo was, . . . . Boo. A special thanks to everyone who helped with Boo’s rescue and rehab, a special thanks to everyone who loved him. Boo will always own a place in our hearts.
