BOOMER UPDATE 9/12/07:
Boomer’s my name, remember me, I am the mastiff that was thrown away. WELL, I have a new lease on life and am soooo ready for my new home! My foster Mom and Aunt have helped me get better with help from donations and guess what I am neutered (not sure about that) but I trust them! And my ears, skin, attitude, hair, and weight are looking good! I am ready to start my life with my forever home......believe me, I will be one PROUD MASTIFF the day I get my forever home! Okay, this is what I would like.....
SSMR is GREAT, They really worked with me, spent so much money on me, all to give me a life. How about thinking about me when you write your donation’s to SSMR......PLEASE! Thank You Boomer’s waiting If you are interested in BOOMER please submit an adoption application mentioning that you are interested in BOOMER in Florida For more information about BOOMER email Boomer's foster mom, Pam at pambo@bellsouth.net Boomer was micro chipped, taught to sit, housebroken then thrown out to starve. Boomer had no idea what he had done to be treated so horribly. He was picked up by animal control, taken to a shelter, thrown in a wet cell, never given shots, or checked for ticks and ignored for 3 days till caring ladies from SSMR picked him up drove him an hour plus, gave him cookies as he showered them in mastiff loving drool. They met 2 other SSMR volunteers, Boomer then got into their car and they drove another hour plus getting showered with loving drool and Boomer got more cookies. Boomer went to the Foster Home where he was checked over for ticks and found to be loaded with them. He was given a soothing bath and the Foster Mom took every tick off of his poor body. Boomer was so thin, that she did not want to chance any insecticides on him. Her weekend was spent taking care of this stoic and kind dog. On Tuesday morning Boomer went to the Veterinarian for his first check up. The Veterinarian did not want to neuter Boomer till he got over his urinary tract infection, put on some weight and got stronger. Bloodwork was done and fortunately Boomer did not have heartworms! That is great news for Boomer. So Antibiotics and supplements were given to the Foster Mom to give BOOMER and he went back to his foster mom's home. Another volunteer bought Boomer some Eaglepack and some cans to help the Foster Mom. Because of his emaciated condition Boomer is being fed 4 meals a day. On the 4th day with the Foster Mom, Boomer became depressed and would not eat, she became worried, so the 2 SSMR volunteers took Boomer back to the veterinarian. He ran blood work and found Boomer to be anemic and when they weighed Boomer he had lost 4 lbs. More blood was taken for tick born diseases. Everyone in The veterinarian’s office could not believe someone "PITCHED" this dog, as he was so kind. Boomer had to stay the night at the Veterinarian’s office to get treated and they too gave this dog lots of love! Boomer is now recovering at home with the Foster Mom, getting lots of meals, love, baths, couch to sleep on, kid to play with, and taking one day at a time meeting her animals. BOOMER goes back to the veterinarian this week, then maybe in a couple of weeks he will be neutered and ready for his FOREVER HOME! BOOMER is 3 years, maybe younger, he is apricot and when he recovers, he will be a handsome young boy! It will be a GRAND Day when BOOMER is well enough to go to his FOREVER HOME. Boomer is being evaluated as to how he does with other animals. Right now Boomer just needs time to adjust to being loved. Updates will be posted often. |
