Deacon is a gorgeous 4 year old fawn Mastiff boy who was found wandering the country roads in Isle of Wight, Virginia with either an abscessed cyst, or a gun shot wound.  He was treated by a vet where they inserted a drain and placed him on antibiotics.  He was covered in ticks and needed to have his whole body shaved to ensure all of them were removed.  He was tested for tick disease but thankfully came back negative. He is neutered, vaccinated, and ready to go to his new home.  He will be microchipped prior to adoption. He is a super sweet boy who wants nothing more than to be with his family, both 4 legged and 2 legged.

Below are excerpts from Deacon's foster dad:

As far as his temperament goes, Deacon does not like to have people in his face. The Vet noted that he was mouthy, but not aggressive when she tried to look at his teeth.  He loves to get some pets (which may hurt a little right now), and he loves to lick your face. I did take him for a walk around the block late last night with one of our Pugs, Molly, and they did fine together. They were noses to nose at one point with nothing but a little lick. I do not know a lot about his house training, or how he will do with the other dogs yet. I am waiting for a while until he is off medication and his skin is a little better before testing him.  He is in a crate in the living room and gets to see all 3 pugs and our Mastiff, Hummer, and our Great Dane, Dallas. There has been some barking, but no fighting through the crate.

Deacon will need a set of booster shots on September 1st, then he will be ready for his new family.  If you would like to make Deacon a member of your family, please submit an  adoption application   and mention him by name and by state.
