Brindle Female 2 Yrs Old REscued from a high kill shelter just in time to save her from being euthanized Good Unknown but as she is SO sweet probably she will do fine with older children. At this point we think Gracie needs to be the only dog in the home. She does not appear to like the foster family's dogs but could be that it's all so 'new' that she is intimidated on their turf at this point. Will report more later as we discover it. Unknown Good

Up to date on vaccinations and hw prev.

NOTE: All dogs must be on monthly   heartworm  preventative

None other than being too thin- is gaining weight with good food already

Gracie is an elegantly beautiful brindle Mastiff girl of two years in age. She is ONE LUCKY MASTIFF who was rescued by a kind-hearted all-breed rescue person from a high kill shelter on the day she was supposed to be put to sleep.

Gracie had apparently suffered from neglect for some time- was starving and had a broken blood vessel in one ear from ear mites that had gotten out of control- she must have itched so badly that she was destroying her poor ear  by scratching and head-shaking. Minor surgery was done on her ear to repair it and she was treated for the mites and is all better now!

The lady who saw her at the shelter said that Gracie touched her heart so deeply she could not let her be killed even though that lady only does small breed rescue! She didn't have any earthly idea what she was going to do with this Mastiff girl but she could not let her be killed after meeting this very special Mastiff girl.

After a little research she located  and contacted SSMR to see if we could help Gracie- and now she is in SSMR foster care where she will be given a chance at a WONDERFUL life with some equally lucky family.

Gracie is still thin but is gaining weight already during her short time in foster care- with good food and love and attention she is thriving in foster care.

Her foster family reports that she is very sweet and loving. However she does not appear to like other dogs.

So at this time we will require that she be adopted only by a family with no other dogs where she can be queen of her domain! We do not know about cats- she has not been evaluated with cats since the foster family does not have them.

More information will be posted here after she is evaluated further in foster care.
