Jolee is a 2 yo brindle Mastiff girl, owner
surrender. Her owner lost his home & they
moved to a boat, but Jolee kept jumping off
the boat & they would find her swimming in
the bay.
She gets along well with people but is a
dominant female so needs to be the only dog
in the household.
She
has not been around children at all. She has
not expressed much interest in her foster
mom's cat however she also has not had
direct contact with the cat either.
Apparently when Jolee was young she jumped
out of a truck & injured her front leg. It
looks a bit different, but she has been to
the orthopedic surgeon & he says it was just
some old soft tissue damage & she does fine
on anti-inflammatory meds.
UPDATE FROM JOLEE'S FOSTER MOM SEPTEMBER
2,2010:
We have had Jolee (we
call her “JoJo”) for the past three weeks.
She is the epitome of a “rescue” dog-
probably not the cutest, biggest, or
smartest dog on the block – just the most
loving and appreciative. JoJo is the sports
model of Mastiffs and her fit and trim
girlish figure weighs in at about 110
pounds. JoJo seems to have a sixth sense
that she now has a new leash on life – and
refuses to let it go. She follows you every
where and simply will not leave your side,
even when she is off leash on a walk thru
the woods. Whether we go out the back door
or the front door, she will be waiting at
that very door when we return. When we go to
sleep at night, she will sleep with her nose
up against the “baby” gate that separates
her from us. We now just move her big, soft
bed next to the gate when we go to sleep.
JoJo appreciates every pet, hug, and kind
word that comes her way- she seems starved
for affection. Every morning it is as if we
had been on vacation for the past 2 weeks.
She is so excited to confirm that her new
life is not a dream that she cannot stand
still and keep her balance on the tile
floor, and simply falls over and waits for
her pets and good mornings.
JoJo is a dominant
female, and should be the only dog in the
family.
JoJo loves all people
of all shapes and sizes. She greets every
visitor with a 90 mile per hour tail wag. We
didn’t even realize until yesterday that she
never barked when the door bell rang, or a
visitor came. Yesterday, for the first time,
she joined our other dogs in barking when a
friend came walking into the house thru the
garage. I’m sure her protective instinct
will come out after she becomes comfortable
in her forever home.
In sum, JoJo is the
sweetest and most affectionate dog we have
fostered this year and would make the most
wonderful companion dog for any family. Her
old injury to the leg does not stop her from
playing and running around with the other
dogs. If you find a place in your heart and
home for JoJo, you will be rewarded 100-fold
for every act of love and kindness given to
this petite, deserving Mastiff girl.
