LEDA

Leda has undergone an expensive knee surgery while in foster care so that she can have a normally active life.

All donations to SSMR to help offset the cost of Leda's knee surgery are GREATLY appreciated since SSMR is a 100 percent volunteer organization which operates strictly on donations and adoption fees which seldom cover the costs incurred by the Mastiffs in our program.

DONATE HERE  indicating that the donation is to be designated to offset the cost of Leda in NC's surgery which was done in 2010.   SSMR and the many Mastiffs helped by them in the past and will be in the future....thanks you for caring enough to help!

Cruciate Ligament Injury- (knee) Needs Surgery
My name is Leda and I am a gorgeous 13 month old puppy girl who is already spayed. I hurt my knee and need a surgery on it- should be great after the surgery and rehab - and will be a wonderful companion for some lucky family. I really need donations so that I can HAVE surgery to repair my knee. Can you give a donation so that I can get this chance to be out of pain and to run and play like other puppies?

My foster family is considering adopting me. SSMR Foster families get first chance at adopting the Mastiffs in their care. Once this decision is made it will be indicated here on this webpage. In the meantime if you are interested in adopting me please submit an SSMR adoption application at adoption application mentioning me by name and state.

UPDATE: December 8,2010

<<Leda is a young (2-3) brindle female that was owner surrendered because of a knee injury. SSMR had a knee surgery done on her and it was determined that her knee joint capule was broken. She does have a limp post surgery because of arthritis that was built up in the joint, but is the sweetest  most loving and active girl that you can imagine in spite of this. Leda lives with two young boys and a jack russell terrier in her foster home and gets along with everyone.  She is crate trained, enjoys visiting PetSmart, and knows basic obedience commands.

It is possible, because of the stress that was placed on her good knee throughout her injury that she may have a ligament issue in her good knee in the future that may require surgery. . The surgeon places this risk at about 50-50.

If you are looking for a loving companion that has never met a stranger, please consider opening your heart and home to Leda.

Leda is spayed, UTD on shots, HW negative and ready to go! Please contact mastiffud@triad.rr.com for more information or with any questions about Leda.
