Sara is a very pretty Brindle spayed Mastiff girl of approximately 6 years of age, rescued from a shelter by SSMR

She is located in Lady Lakes, FL and gets along with other dogs and with cats. She was said to have been raised with kids. Sara is super sweet and appears to be a very easy going Mastiff who will make a wonderful addition to any family looking for a friendly 'laid-back' Mastiff Girl.

Below is some detailed information condensed from an update by her foster mom published March 5,2009.

"Sara is a sweet doll who adores being by her human's side. She was turned into a shelter by her original family when they "had to move and couldn't take her."
Thankfully, Sara made it from the shelter into the hands of Mastiff Rescue. She is 6 years old and approximately 115 lbs. She is always smiling and giving you the most beautiful big brown puppy-dog eyes you have ever seen. A hug and a belly rub is always appreciated by this little girl.

Behavior:

She can be shy at first, but then instantly warms up to humans and finds herself a new best friend in minutes. She gets along great with other dogs, both male and female. She does not exhibit food aggression at all. She is also good with cats.

Walks:

She obviously had strong obedience training and understands sit, stay, lay down, shake, and off.  She could use some more leash training while on walks, as she pulls a bit, but eventually slows down as the walk progresses and becomes easier to walk. She is car-smart in the driveway, and gets out of the way of the car when you're pulling in/out. She is not bothered by normal cars or people when on walks, but large, loud trucks / ambulances excite her and she pulls hard as if to chase them. So she always needs to be kept on a leash while walking.

Play:

She is extremely playful with other dogs of all sizes, both male and female. She will not fetch a ball outside (she just looks at it as if to say "What would you like me to do with that?"), but loves to play "chase" with you in the
house or the yard if you get her riled up. She is so silly when she gets excited and will jump up, do circles, and slap you five all at once! She craves human attention and your happiness and excitement is reflected in her personality. She will undoubtedly have the same effect on her forever family.

Diet:

She is a healthy 115 lbs, and a smaller framed female Mastiff. She could stand to gain a few pounds, but not much. She is currently on a quality dry dog fed food 2 times a day (3 cups AM, 3 cups PM) (Innova) and drinks water
often. If you are interested in feeding Innova and finding a nearby store  that carries it, please visit the following site: http://www.naturapet.com/brands/evo.asp

Health:

She is extremely healthy. Even though she does not display any ailments, her foster family has started supplementing her with Glucosamine and Chondroitin every day for long-term joint health.

House manners:

She will gladly sleep on her dog bed on the floor next to your bed and if she needs to be let out in the middle of the night for any reason, she will gently nudge you awake from the side of your bed. Sara is housebroken
and can be trusted in the home uncrated for 9 hours without an accident. She helps herself to laying on the bed when she's alone at home, but quickly gets down when told to do so. (Trying to break this habit).  She also takes treats from your hand very gently.  She does not chew up anything in the home. She does not dig in the yard, nor is she an escape artist.

Car rides:

Rides very well in the car and can jump in without assistance. If she is a little tired from playing, you may need to give her a little boost.

Adaptability:

Sara is currently living in a high-rise apartment building in downtown Jacksonville with her foster father until she can be adopted.  She has adjusted to city life wonderfully, doing well in both a small space, as well as a new environment filled with elevators, busy streets, stores, and parks. She is available immediately for adoption.Sara is available for adoption through Southern States Mastiff Rescue. "

If you think you can give me a permanent loving home please fill out an
