Shelby
is a darling 8 year old female English
Mastiff who has had quite a life.
Her
first owner died when she was 4 years
old, and then her second owners who had
her for 3 years and adopted 4 children
and said she didn't do well with them so
they gave her to her 3rd owner....who
lost her job last year and gave her away
to a lady on craigslist on the Westside,
who has not been identified yet- and who
somehow lost her. So this poor
girl just wants a FOREVER home where she
can spend the rest of her peaceful life.
Just
days ago, Shelby was sitting in a scary
kill shelter after wandering stray for a
few weeks on the Westside near Shindler
Drive...thankfully Mastiff Rescue
stepped in and saved her from death.
Shelby is peaceful. She is calm, smiley,
and loving. Her manners are perfect and
she is just waiting for the perfect
family that is willing to overlook that
she is not a cute little puppy, but
rather a distinguished grown lady that
needs a place to call home.
Shelby gets along fine with other dogs of all sizes, both male and female.
Her foster family feels 100% confident
that she would do great with any other
dogs, as long as they were accepting of
her.
Shelby is fine with cats. Her reaction to cats is one of indifference. She
could live VERY harmoniously with house
cats.
Shelby would do better with older teenage children or a home without children. She
does not do well with small children.
Shelby is a very thin 74 lbs. lbs, and a
smaller framed female Mastiff. She
is currently on a quality dry dog fed
food 2 times a day (3 cups AM, 3 cups
PM) (Innova). She has no issues at all
with food aggression and is an 'easy
keeper'.
Shelby obviously has had some obedience training and understands sit,
stay, lay down, give me five, and go
away. She walks wonderfully on a leash
and barely pulls at all. The only time
she pulls on the leash is if a
fast-moving bicycle or scooter passes
by. She must always be walked on a leash
because of this prey drive reaction to
chase what runs.
Although she is VERY thin and needs to
gain some more weight, she is otherwise
very healthy for an 8 year old mastiff.
She is heartworm negative, which is
wonderful. She is spayed and up to date
on shots.
Shelby will gladly sleep on her dog bed on the floor next to your bed. She
is perfectly housebroken. She does not
climb on the furniture, and she is not
destructive. She does not jump up on
people when greeting them. Just a bark
and then she's fine.
If you have the time and
love in your heart to make me a
family member for ever please fill out an
