Simba is a gorgeous young brindle
Mastiff boy who has a condition called
bi-subluxating patellas so cannot walk
normally at this time. He is pending a
consultation with a surgeon at this time
and more will be posted about him after
more is known.
UPDATE from
the FL State Coordinator Aug 30th:
Surgery has been done on
one of Simba's legs. The plan was that
after that leg healed & he started using
it, the second surgery would be done on
the other leg. Unfortunately Simba's leg
had been left in this condition so long
that, even with water therapy, he did
not regain the use of the "bad leg".
Because of this failed surgery the
surgeons would not risk doing a 2nd
surgery because if something unforeseen
happened & the "better leg" became
unusable, poor Simba would have no legs.
So Simba is destined for a life with
minimal use of his rear legs. But don't
tell him that... he thinks he is normal.
He cannot walk for long distances, but
does love life!
