Danny - Now Called Guinness
I could tell you about how we adopted this beautiful boy from the Mastiff rescue group and how well he is doing in his new home and how loved he is. What is more important to us is to relate what we, his new adopted parents, have received from our first Mastiff. Guinness imparts such happiness, when he bounces around the yard with a stuffed toy in his mouth, the joy is contagious, and at times like this I laugh and contemplate renaming him Tigger. When the doorbell rings and his adopted sisters (Mag and Sable) rush barking to the door, he finds mom and stays by her side, her watchful guardian, what an amazing feeling. At the end of a stressful day, he rests his head in my lap and as I rub his head and play with his ears (which he really doesn’t care for but patiently endures) all the tension seems to leach away, and the eyes tell me he understands that he is very good therapy and that he cares. During TV time, he crawls into dad’s lap and gives an excellent imitation of Velcro. He rests his head on the desk next to the keyboard while we are working on the computer, and loves squeezing in between us when we are side by side, that way he has two parents to lean on at the same time. The grin on his face is marvelous. Guinness brought so much with him when he moved into our hearts and home. We give him food, shelter, head and tummy rubs, medical coverage, and in return we receive unwavering loyalty, love and the opportunity to share his childish joy. I firmly believe we got the better deal and I will be forever grateful to the superb people at rescue who made this all possible. Enjoy the picture of Guinness with his two sisters, Mag (Westie) and Sable (chocolate lab-rescue dog) they are certainly enjoying their life together. If you are looking for joy, caring, loyalty, and a love that is simply amazing and can give the same in return I would suggest you consider a Mastiff from the rescue group. While they are large, they are sensitive, and their feelings are fragile but they are sturdy and forever companions.
